Oddisee ft. Toine – NNGE

Washington, D.C. is best known for political gridlock, mediocre sports, and some of the nation’s worst traffic. But to the true audiophiles that live here, the city also boasts a homegrown sound unique to the culture that inspired it; go-go. I could spend pages chronicling its rich history, but I’ve got a meeting in ten minutes so Oddisee’s latest will have to serve as a quick crash course.

Featuring a contemporary spin on the lo-fi drumming and funked up rhythms, “NNGE,” or Never Not Getting Enough, finds the DMV rhyme-spitter spreading a message of optimism in the wake of so much hardship facing the country and minorities especially right now. And he’s joined in the good fight by PG County native Toine who offers his own fiery take with some well placed bars.
