You’ve essentially made it when you have a Beatle backing you, right? Favored by the one and only Sir Paul McCartney, serving as co-writer on one of his debut album’s cuts, London-based singer-songwriter Fraser Churchill is back with an intimate jazz-pop affair. Live At Livingston Studios is a three track EP, recorded in just twelve hours, that finds the young performer dabbling with a radio-ready sound, more accessible to the music-loving masses.
Drawing from acts no strangers to commercial success like Stevie Wonder, John Legend, and John Mayer, Fraser evokes a smooth and soulful charm in his melodic storytelling here. Tracks “Talk About You” and “Day by Day” thoroughly resonate as the rhythmic craftsmanship and lyricism unite, while “Amber Light,” high point of the brief engagement, is a full-bodied session rich with dazzling riffs, high-energy kicks, and fetching harmonies.
If Live At Livingston Studios is any indication, Churchill won’t need to worry about those famous friends of his, he’ll be just fine on his own. Judge for yourself with a stream below:
