Conor Maynard – Royalty

Anyone else less than thrilled with the current crop of cookie cutter pop being produced here in the good ole U S of A recently? It’s a different story across the Atlantic where the scene is infused with innovative new sounds while still incorporating the approaches of yesteryear. No stranger to the process is Digital High favorite Conor Maynard, following up early March’s house-lite “Talking About” with “Royalty,” a Big Band electropopper and second single off of his untitled sophomore release.

Working with UK jack-of-all-trades-musical Labrinth to harness that swinging 1920’s sound the young singer delivers the triumphant proclamation that he’s come to reign, oozing a sophisticated coolness with each note. This kid is the real deal and it comes through on each new cut.
